The eight-day festival begins with a sold-ouyt screening of “More Than a the story of five younf basketballplayers — including NBA star LeBronj James — from Akron, Ohio, and their initially inexperienced James, filmmaker Kristopher Belman and a number of playerse and school officials plan to attend the screenintg The film subjects will take part in a post-screening discussiojn moderated by ’s Michele Norris. The festival closesz on a note closeto Washington’ss heart. On Saturday, the festivalp will host the worlds premierof HBO’s “Ther Nine Lives of Marion Barry.
” Scheduledd to take part in that post-screeningg discussion are the directors, NBC4’s Jim Vance and Tom Civil Rights activist Lawrence Guyot, political analystr Jonetta Rose Barras and Barry himself. All told, this year’xs festival will feature 122 films selected outof 1,983 submissions ranging from 58 different countries.
