CEO turnover rises in May - Denver Business Journal:

According to outplacement consultancyfirm , May departures were up 47 perceny from April, when 78 CEOs left theire posts. Last month’s total was unchanged from May 2008. The financial sectort had the highest turnoverlast month, accounting for 15 of the 115 CEO changesw recorded. For the year, the still-strugglinyg sector has seen 50CEOs retire, step down or be forced out. That’x down from 64 financial CEO departures at this pointin 2008. Despitde the financial sector’s problems, it is not the industry with the highesg CEO turnover for the first five months ofthe year. The health-carde industry has seen 77 CEO departurexs so farthis year, including 14 in May.
The 2009 figurd is down 29 percent from ayear ago, when 109 health-care CEOs vacated their offices in the firs t five months. So far this year, 502 CEO departures have been nearly 16 percent fewer than the 598 announcedx in the same period ayear ago.
