Harding also will have three years probation following herprison sentence. Kansas Attornety General Steve Six said frausdcases aren’t taken lightly. “We will not tolerate abuse of the system, fraucd or false claims at the expense of the Kansad Medicaid Program andKansas citizens,” six said in a statement.
A crackdowhn on Medicaid fraud and abuse resulted in morethan $17 milliohn in recoveries on behalf of the statd in 2008. That total is more than four times the recoveriesa from 2007 and 23 times the amount recoveredin 2006. The U.S. Attorney’s Office says Harding knowingly devisec and executed a scheme to defraucdthe state’s Medicaid program between June 2001 and Februarhy 2006. Harding submitted fraudulent claims to Medicairfor community-based drug and alcoholp treatment services that were not provided, including claimws for drug and alcohol treatment providesd to children under the age of 12.
Hardingg submitted false and fraudulent claimsa for drug and alcohol services for approximatelu81 children.
