Opened in early 2008, the bistrop was the brainchild ofMike Fine, who successfullhy launched and then sold the Sportsman’s Fine Wine and Spirits concept now owned by Bashas’. The restauranf closed May 30, Fine said. “It’es just been a struggle from the beginning. We openede at a really bad time,” he said. Whil e the restaurant had strong months during thepast year, summer 2008 was tough and Fine saw summerr approaching once again. “We seemed to be doinf all right,” he said. “But in mid-April, all of a suddebn things changed.” He approached his financialk backers, and they made the decisionn to closethe restaurant.
“We just really had to make a businesx decision, not an emotional one. It was all dollarsd and cents,” Fine said. Now, like many others across the Valley and the Fine is hittingthe “Right now, I am looking for a job. I’ver worked 80, 90, 100 hours a week for the past two he said.
