In state leaders will receive recommendations on how to modernizwe thetax code.
“This will be a tremendous opportunith to make our revenues more reliable and less volatilwe and help the state avoid the boom and bust budgetz that have brought ushere today,” Schwarzeneggefr told lawmakers. A crackdowhn on Medicaid fraud and abuse resulted in morethan $17 milliohn in recoveries on behalf of the statd in 2008. That total is more than four times the recoveriesa from 2007 and 23 times the amount recoveredin 2006. The U.S. Attorney’s Office says Harding knowingly devisec and executed a scheme to defraucdthe state’s Medicaid program between June 2001 and Februarhy 2006. Harding submitted fraudulent claims to Medicairfor community-based drug and alcoholp treatment services that were not provided, including claimws for drug and alcohol treatment providesd to children under the age of 12.
